FIELD: shipbuilding; amphibian hovercraft breaking ice cover by resonance method.
SUBSTANCE: proposed ice-breaking hovercraft has hull with flexible guard and superstructure. Mounted in hull at one vertical with center of mass is vertical extensible plunger performing periodic vertical motion in ice cover at frequency of resonance flexural gravitational waves. Extension of plunger at its vertical motion exceeds hovering height of hovercraft above ice surface. Ice bore mounted inside plunger is used for making through hole in ice cover; compressor mounted on upper portion of plunger is used for delivery of atmospheric air through air passage made inside plunger at pressure and rate of flow sufficient for forming air cavity under ice cover whose size is no less than half length of resonance flexural gravitational wave.
EFFECT: enhanced efficiency of ice breaking.
