FIELD: polymers, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for modifying polymers by insertion of oxygen-containing functional groups to their formula. Method involves modifying polymers comprising double carbon-carbon bonds by their oxidation with nitrous oxide to form carbonyl groups in the polymer formula. Process is carried out at temperature 50-350 C and under pressure 0.01-100 atm. Amount of oxygen-containing functional groups in polymer is 0.001-2.95 wt.-%. Invention provides preparing chemically modified polymers at minimal amount of by-side products formed in the modifying reaction.
EFFECT: improved modifying method.
