FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves carrying out subtotal vitrectomy with maximum full removal posterior hyaloid membrane. Two radial optical neurotomies are done at an angle of 40-45° to the central axis of the optic nerve. Sclerotomy areas are sutured after applying gas tamponade. Conjunctiva incision is done 5 mm far from limbus from nasal side. Conjunctiva incision is done in meridians from 7 to 12 on the extent of 5-7 mm. Internal direct muscle is exposed, sutured and cut-off from tendon near the attachment place. Then eyeball is turned, the optic nerve is localized and exposed. Magnetic implant is arranged on the nerve with axially symmetric radial or symmetric axial permanent magnetic field of alternated sign and intensity of 0.4 to 1.6 mTesla units. The implant is manufactured as spherical funnel having longitudinal cut. The spherical funnel part is set on the eyeball and its cut tubular part envelops the optic nerve. Then the eye is returned to its original position. The cut-off internal direct muscle is attached to sclera with interrupted sutures to its original attachment place. The operation is finished with blanket continuous catgut suture placed on conjunctiva. The funnel-like magnetic implant is produced from flexible polymer biologically stable material like one based on polyacrylate, vinyl polymer or silicon rubber containing uniformly distributed powder particles of permanent magnet material of samarium-cobalt system, neodymium-iron-boron system or samarium-iron-nitrogen system. The implant is left on the place it has been applied to, after the treatment had been over. The funnel-like magnetic implant is optionally produced from flexible polymer biodegradable material like one based on polyurethane, polyacrylamide or soluble polyacrylamide having uniformly distributed powder particles of permanent magnet material of samarium-cobalt system, neodymium-iron-boron system or samarium-iron-nitrogen system. The implant is left on the place it has been applied to, for its polymer matrix to be biologically destructed and magnetic powder-like particles to be encapsulated. The internal surface of the funnel-like magnetic implant is given oval shape repeating that of eyeball. Internal diameter of splittable implant pedicle is preferentially equal to 6 mm and its length from 3 to 6 mm. Funnel-like magnetic implant modeled according to types and dimension system depending on anatomical specificity of individual optic nerve and vascular system structure. When accommodating the funnel-like magnetic implant, splittable tubular part of the implant embraces the optic nerve in 180-240° range.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of surgical treatment.
