FIELD: hydrogenation catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: granulated catalyst for hydrogenation of fats or oils containing 5 to 75% nickel is prepared by suspending transition alumina powder having average weighed surface diameter D[3,2] in a range of 1 to 20 mcm in aqueous solution of nickel ammine complex followed by heating suspension to precipitate indissoluble nickel compound, which is then reduced. Catalysts containing up to 55% nickel have nickel surface area 130 m2/g. Those with higher nickel content obtained using alumina with average pore diameter above 12 mcm may have lesser nickel surface area.
EFFECT: increased activity and selectivity of catalyst.
