FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention describes a method of converting deposited metal nitrate into the corresponding metal oxide, involving heating the metal nitrate in order to initiate its decomposition in a gas mixture consisting of one or more inert gases and nitrogen oxide in concentration of 0.001-15 vol. %. Described also is a method of reducing the deposited metal oxide obtained using the described method, involving heating the deposited metal oxide in a stream of reducing gas in order to initiate reduction of at least a portion of the metal oxide.
EFFECT: obtaining finely dispersed metal oxides on a support and finely dispersed, reduced and deposited metal oxides which can be used as catalysts or catalyst precursors.
