SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing enantiomerically enriched tetrahydrobenzothiepine-1-oxide of the formula (I):

by cyclization reaction of enantiomerically enriched aryl-3-propanesulfoxide of the formula (II) wherein sulfur atom is a chiral center. Also, invention describes a method for preparing an intermediate compound of the formula (II). Compounds of the formula (I) represent class of compounds with ideal inhibitory properties with respect to bile acids transport that can be used for effect on serum blood cholesterol level. This method is believed to be suitable and profitable.
