FIELD: radio detection and ranging, applicable for detection of useful pulse echo signals on the background of interference.
SUBSTANCE: the method consists in comparison of the signal amplitude in the enabling element under test with the adaptive threshold level formed on the basis of one (X(k)) of the ordinal statistics formed of signal amplitudes in several enabling elements by multiplication of the mentioned ordinal statistics by coefficient T selected from the condition of provision of the preset level of false alerts by the own noise of the receiver, threshold level П is formed by separation of the signal from the enabling element corresponding to the maximum ordinal statistics, comparison of amplitude value X(N) of this signal with critical level R equal to the value of the main peak of the useful signal, whose side lobes are commensurable with the own noise of the receiver, the signal corresponding to maximum ordinal statistics X(N) is compared in value of the amplitude with critical level R, equal to the value of the main peak of the useful signal, whose side lobes are commensurable with the own noise of the receiver, depending on the result of the comparison, selected is the value of correction coefficient a of the threshold level taking into account the appearance of useful signals with the known waveform, whose side lobes are commensurable with the known noise of the receiver, after that maximum ordinal statistics X(N) is multiplied by coefficient a, amplified to the respective value П.
EFFECT: reduced probability of false alerts due to the control of their level by the side lobes of useful signals commensurable or exceeding the level of own noise of the receiver, especially in the conditions of their interference at superposition of several useful signals.
