FIELD: inorganic compounds technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to hydrometallurgical processing of tantalum raw material and consists in that, in order to remove impurities, niobium raffinate, after extraction of tantalum with tributyl phosphate, is partially neutralized and resulting hydroxide is dissolved in subsequent raffinate portions, after which acidified with hydrofluoric and sulfuric acids to form solution containing, g/l: Nb ~60, HF ~70, H2SO4 350-400. This solution is subjected to extraction of niobium in 5 countercurrent stages at organic phase/aqueous phase ratio 0.7:1 and in 3 countercurrent stages at organic phase/aqueous phase ratio 1:0.7. As a result, refined niobium solution is obtained, from which niobium pentoxide is prepared as commercial product using techniques well known to those in the art.
EFFECT: enabled preparation commercial niobium pentoxide by processing composition-unstable columbo-tantalite concentrates.
