FIELD: electric signal power amplifiers; sound-reproducing and automatic devices; measurement technology and converters.

SUBSTANCE: method includes amplification of electric signals in two parallel-connected amplifier channels, linear and pulse ones, followed by their addition across common load. Linear channel provides for continuous linear power amplification and pulse channel, for pulse-width amplification and power limiting of linear channel. This method is characterized in that first pair of modulo equal positive and negative reference signals and second similar pair differing only in modulo higher value are generated. Pulse channel is switched over to pulse mode at instant of equality between linear channel current and reference signal and pulse is turned off at moment when current becomes equal to opposing signal of this pair. Polarity of pulse-channel output pulses is set depending on polarity of second-pair reference signal of second pair at instant linear-channel current rises to value of this signal.

EFFECT: enhanced power amplifier efficiency due to reduced power loss.
