DISINFECTING AGENT Russian patent published in 2004 - IPC

FIELD: organic chemistry, medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a disinfecting agent among class of quaternary ammonium compounds. Agent represents a mixture of alkylcetylpyridinium chlorides prepared by esterification of monochloroacetic acid with synthetic saturated alcohol of (C₁₂-C₁₄)-fraction, (C₁₂-C₁₈)-fraction or (C₁₆-C₁₈)-fraction in their mole ratio = 1.1:1 in organic solvent medium at temperature 75-85^oC followed by interaction of prepared alkylchloroacetate with pyridine in the mole ratio = 1:(1.0-1.1)for 6-9 h at temperature 80-90^oC and recrystallization of the end product from organic solvent. Melting point of the end product is 98-103^oC, content of chloride ions is 8.5-9.9%. This disinfecting agent is used in medicine, agriculture and in homes and elicits disinfecting effect with respect to vegetative, capsule and spore-forming forms of microorganisms. Agent elicits bactericidal effect with respect to test-cultures of E. coli, S. aureus, Ps. aeruginosa in the concentration ≥ 0.5 mas.% at exposition for 60 min and bacteriostatic effect with respect to Bac. subtilis in the concentration 5 mas.% and exposition for 120 min. Invention provides preparing the novel disinfecting agent eliciting improved properties.
