FIELD: transport engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to provide effective steering using power assisted steering gear. Proposed system has steering wheel 1 connected with steering shaft 3, electric torque amplifier with torque sensor, slave electric motor 4 and control unit 5 with speed and torque meters connected to control unit. Steering shaft 3 is mechanically connected with steering mechanism 6 by means of one transfer link 7, and torque sensor is combined with steering shaft 3. Steering mechanism 6 of proposed steering system has second transfer link 8, and torque sensor is made in form of synchro-transmitter 9 and synchro-receiver 10 interacting through electromagnetic synchronizing windings. Synchro-transmitter 9 is combined with steering shaft 3, and synchro-receiver 10 is installed for interaction through electromagnetic field winding with corresponding winding of slave electric motor 4 whose output shaft 16 is mechanically connected through second transfer link 8 with steering mechanism 6. With system operating, when steering wheel 1 is rotated, torque is transmitted from steering shaft 3 through first transfer link 7 to rack 25 of steering mechanism 6. simultaneously electric signal is transmitted from synchro-transmitter 9 to synchro-receiver 10 from output of which signal is transmitted to control unit 5 and then in form of voltage, to input of slave electric motor 4 which is connected also with steering mechanism 6 by means of second transfer link 8. In additional to muscular force built by force of driver, additional torque from slave electric motor 4 is created which provides reduction of force on steering wheel 1, the greater the angle of steering wheel turning the greater the torque created by slave electric motor 4. High degree of synchronization of operation by two channels acting on steering mechanism 6 is provided. Control unit 5 fixes car driving speed by means of speed meters and at definite threshold speed it opens electric circuit, thus disconnecting slave electric motor 4.
EFFECT: reduced efforts on steering wheel to be applied by driver at cornering, provision of higher degree of synchronization of rotation of steering shaft and slave electric motor shaft.
