FIELD: protection of traction networks against short-circuit currents.
SUBSTANCE: method includes measurement of values proportional to rates of current variation on adjacent filters separated by insulating air gap. These values are summed up including their polarities. Sum obtained is compared with setting value of current variation rate much lower than value proportional to rates of current variation at each of adjacent feeders. If sum obtained is higher than setting value, signal is generated for opening circuit breaker on feeder where rate of current growth is positive.
EFFECT: enhanced selectivity and sensitivity of protective gear on traction circuit feeders.
