FIELD: chemical metalworking.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to surface nitration strengthening of parts and can be used in manufacture of wide assortment of parts and tools. Method involves displacement of part being strengthened in plasma arc zone relative to plasmotron and use of compressed air as plasma-forming gas, while saturating medium utilized is nitrogen of plasma-forming air and part is displaced relative to plasmotron with velocity high enough to fuse surface layer capable of being intact owing to surface tension forces.
EFFECT: achieved strengthening of nitrated surface of part.
