FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: plasma nitriding of parts is carried out by moving the part in respect to the plasmatron in the plasma jet zone with the jet being formed in the plasmatron flux transformer with a slotted outlet hole. Nitrogen being simultaneously an alloying element is used as a plasma-forming gas.
EFFECT: surface layer obtained by nitrogen alloying provides for improved wear resistance, fatigue strength and resistance to corrosion in the conditions of abrasive wear with minimal level of deformations and warping of parts.
