FIELD: construction engineering; manufacture of windows and doors from polyvinyl chloride sections.
SUBSTANCE: transom bar in the form of polymeric hollow compartment section has longitudinal channel accommodating box-section reinforcing section provided with channel to receive fastening screw; this reinforcing section is formed by bent steel sheet whose loose open ends form channel for adjusting screw. One of these ends is bent out through 60 to 120 deg. from larger side wall of longitudinal channel of section to longitudinal axis of channel for adjusting screw. Other end elastically encloses bent-out part of first one on three sides to form loop in cross-sectional area, better arc-shaped one at least on part of perimeter facing inner surface whose inner diameter on internal perimeter does not exceed fastening screw diameter. Bent-out ends overlap one another by at least double thickness of steel sheet. Proposed method includes installation of intermediate member on section joined to transom bar; this member has base, better provided with hole for passing fastening screw of transom bar, and channel-section guides protruding from base, their channel section increasing toward cross-section base, and their flanges facing each other and forming clearance between at least pair of them large enough to receive bent-out ends of reinforcing section. Then reinforcing section and transom bar are fitted onto intermediate member guides and fixed in position by means of fastening screw entered in reinforcing section channel on end of section joined with transom bar through intermediate member thereby affording interference fit between reinforcing section and intermediate member at the same time enlarging area confined by outline of sectional area of reinforcing section.
EFFECT: facilitated manufacture and assembly of doors and windows, enhanced reliability and service life.
