SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with treating patients with vast and giant postoperational ventral hernias. It is necessary to register spirograms at loading with pneumobandage. Moreover, one should steadily increase the load at simultaneous registration of spirograms, measure the values for external respiration function (ERF) in initial state with no bandage at 40 and 80 mm mercury column. In case of decreased ERF values at 40 mm mercury column it is necessary to prepare a patient for further operation. At kept or increased ERF values at 40 mm mercury column and at increased or kept values at 80 mm mercury column patient should undergo the plasty of abdominal wall with local tissues by decreasing the volume of abdominal cavity. At decreased or kept ERF values at 40 mm mercury column and their increase at 80 mm mercury column it is necessary to perform alloplasty without any decrease of abdominal cavity volume.

EFFECT: higher efficiency and accuracy of prediction.
