FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for preparing alkylene oxide that involves passing the parent mixture containing organic hydroperoxide and alkene through row of at least two successively connected reactors wherein each reactor comprises a layer of particles of the heterogenous epoxidation catalyst and works in cyclic regime. In this method (a) the first reactor of row working in cyclic regime is placed to position behind of this row by the process course when activity of the epoxidation catalyst in the first reactor is reduced to the non-desirable low level; (b) in this position catalyst with reduced activity contacts with a mixture of products outputting from reactor placing before of its at temperature that at least by 5oC above the final temperature when catalyst was used at the first position in row of reactors for time sufficient in order to recover activity to the desirable level. Behind row of epoxidation reactors working in cyclic regime one or more additional expoxidation reactors with stationary catalyst layer can be installed that don't work in cyclic regime. Method provides enhancing output and economic effectiveness, elevating catalyst work life, reducing formation of by-side products of reaction.
