FIELD: wood-working industry, in particular, band-sawing machines for symmetric and asymmetric sawing of wood.

SUBSTANCE: the machine has a band saw of ferromagnetic material installed on a movable and fixed curvilinear guides, and a saw drive. The drive is made in the form of a closed magnetohydrodynamic circuit of a multiphase inductor and a chamber in the guides and a tank filled with a power medium. The inductor coils are installed in succession in a row in length of each guide with a shift relative to one another in the rows and are series-connected to different phases of the power supply source. The power medium represents a magnetic liquid.

EFFECT: enhanced reliability of operation and improved operating characteristics of the machine.
