FIELD: conversion of water current energy into electricity.
SUBSTANCE: proposed hydropower unit has annular vertical-shaft bladed rotors mounted one on top of other for rotation in opposite directions, linear (arc) generators, and base in the form of central pylon secured to bottom. Lower hollow annular bladed rotor is tightly fitted to upper one due to excess buoyancy and electromagnetic interaction between upper rotor inductors and lower rotor magnetic core; ends of rotor blades are integrated by hollow rims filled with water or air under excess pressure; rotor blades are also hollow structures provided with longitudinal separating walls and plurality of holes on each end of blade. Rotor blade hollows communicate with rim ones through controlled valves. Inductor units disposed on upper rotor ring are interconnected by power cables.
EFFECT: enhanced conversion efficiency within wide range of water current speed variations.
