FIELD: power engineering; no-break power supplies for important users operating in continuous process cycle.
SUBSTANCE: proposed no-break power supply has convertible synchronous machine, disconnecting clutch, prime mover with starting relay, circuit breaker and controllable switch, supply mains buses, no-break supply buses, supply mains parameter monitoring transducer, and controllable switch operating mechanism. Outputs of supply mains parameter monitoring transducer are connected to inputs of prime-mover starting relay and controllable switch operating mechanism. Newly introduced in power supply are free-running power turbine incorporating gas producer and coupled with convertible synchronous machine shaft and gas producer ignition unit whose input is connected to output of supply mains parameter monitoring transducer and output, to respective input of gas producer. No-break power supply incorporates provision for reducing its reactive power in stand-by state due to increasing power factor when convertible synchronous machine is running as synchronous condenser.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness of power supply in on-duty mode due to reducing windage loss at no-load running of power turbine by evacuating its working space.
