FIELD: electrical engineering; surge voltage protection of high- and superhigh-voltage transmission lines.
SUBSTANCE: proposed device has at least one shunt reactor connected to high-voltage line through circuit breaker, as well as nonlinear surge voltage limiter, protective and automatic control gear connected to final elements of circuit breakers, and current sensor inserted in nonlinear surge voltage limiter circuit; current sensor output is connected through automatic control gear to reclosing final element of circuit breaker. Nonlinear surge voltage limiter is connected to HV line between phase lead and ground at point of connection of shunt reactor.
EFFECT: reduced surge voltage level, enhanced operating reliability of nonlinear surge voltage limiter.
