FIELD: metallurgy, namely slag forming compositions for casting steels, namely continuous casting of steel.
SUBSTANCE: slag-forming composition contains, mass. %: CaO, 10 -35; SiO2, 10 -40; Al2O3, up to 12; MgO, up to 4; Mno, up to 4; B2O3, up to 6; Na2O + K2O + Li2O, 4 -15; Cfr, 2 - 12; FeO, 6 -10. CaO is added partially in the form of CaCo3, 1 -10 %. It provides enhanced protection of cast metal from interaction with air due to opposite flow of CO, realization of gradual melting of slag-forming composition without foaming of slag and mixing it with solid slag-forming composition. Invention provides lowered by 10 - 15 kg/t degree of trimming, increased by 10 - 15% yield of high-quality surface.
EFFECT: enhanced quality of surface of cast billets or ingots, lowered metal losses caused by trimming, minimum cost of metal trimming, preparation of composition at using initial components with increased content of iron oxides.
