FIELD: petroleum processing.
SUBSTANCE: petroleum feedstock is oxidized with air at elevated temperature in oxidation column separated into separation, reaction, and dispersing zones. Process comprises feeding petroleum feedstock into separation zone, introducing air into dispersing zone through disperser, withdrawing formed gas-liquid mixture from dispersing zone into reaction zone and further into separation zone, separating gas-liquid mixture therein into gas and liquid phases, transferring liquid phase from separation zone into dispersing zone, and discharging bitumen from reaction zone.
EFFECT: reduced coke formation and simplified technology.
