BEE KEEPING METHOD AND GENERAL-PURPOSE HIVE Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: apiculture.

SUBSTANCE: method involves reducing volume of upper part of nest space by detaching side parts of upper comb frame for wintering period; providing immobility of air between hive walls and nest comb frames by placing layer of soft rubber tube above open bee-entrances; during preswarming period, repositioning upper and lower parts of nest and recovering volume of nest upper part by attaching side parts of upper frames. To provide for single continuous working field for sowing by queen during sowing period, horizontal planks of standard frames making part of composite frame are provided with bevels extending from outer side to foundation. Hive has volume of 0.15 m³ and comprises 14 composite suspension frames fitted with retaining shoulders having fixing clips for suspending and connecting-disconnecting of frames and parts thereof. Interframe inserts are placed between side planks of composite suspension frames for providing closed interframe nest space. Two vent openings are provided on hive rear wall. Double glass visual control windows are provided in front and side walls of lower part of hive. Hive bottom is made in the form of conveyor for removal of bottom contaminants without dismantling of hive.

EFFECT: increased efficiency in creating adequate bee keeping conditions at any period of year and reduced cost of bee keeping works.
