FIELD: chemical industry, in particular method for production of 2,3,6-tricarboxyanthraquinone and 2,3,7-tricarboxyanthraquinone.
SUBSTANCE: claimed method includes acylation of methyl-substituted benzene (e.g., toluene) with carboxylic anhydrite (e.g., pyromellitic dianhydrite) in presence of Friedel-Crafts catalyst (e.g., anhydrous aluminum chlorude), oxidation, and intramolecular cyclization in presence of dehydration agent. Obtained after acylation 5-(p-methyl-benzoyl)-trimellitic acid is cyclized with intramolecular manner in presence of concentrated sulfuric acid as dehydration agent; and formed 2,3-dicarboxy-6-methyl anthraquinon and 2,3-dicarboxy-7-methyl anthraquinon os oxidized in weak-alkali medium in presence of potassium permanganate. Compounds of present invention are synthetic intermediates of tetra-6/7-tricarboxyanthraquinon metal complexes useful as catalysts, paints, etc.
EFFECT: simplified and low-cost production of target compound.
