FIELD: industrial organic synthesis.
SUBSTANCE: wasteless process of producing 4-aminodiphenylamine, intermediate in production of rubbers and dyes, is obtained by condensation of nitrobenzene with aniline in presence of tetramethylammonium hydroxide, reaction being accompanied by azeotropic removal of water, after which excess aniline is distilled from reaction mixture and catalytic hydrogenation is carried out in water-toluene mixture. Yield of desired product achieves 94%.
EFFECT: reduced process time.
