FRAGMENTATION AMMUNITION Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2249174 C1

FIELD: military weapons; production of fragmentation ammunition.

SUBSTANCE: the invention is pertinent to the field of military weapons, in particular, to production of ammunition of a splinter effect. The ammunition contains a body and a brisant charge made out of a brisant blasting explosive, in which there is a central axial channel filled with a central explosive charge, which characteristics, chemical composition and density ensure a speed of detonation Dcentral within the range of the values: Dc = Dm /sin ((βb-βmax), where Dm = Dmain - a speed of detonation of a brisant explosive of a brisant charge, βb - a minimum value of an angle of approach of a detonation wave front to a wall of the body, that corresponds to transition from a regular mode of reflection to an irregular one; βmax - a maximum value of an angle of approach of a detonation wave front to a wall of the body corresponding to transition from an irregular mode of reflecting to a regular one. At that a diameter Dc of the central explosive charge and its extreme diameter Dex are related to each other by a ratio: dc = dex - dex +Δ, where Δ is a central explosive charge diameter tolerance. The technical result is an increased power of the ammunition due to increased quantity and speed of the scattering splinters without a need to increase the physical-power characteristics of the brisant blasting explosive of the brisant explosive charge.

EFFECT: the invention ensures increased power of the ammunition due to an increase of quantity and speed of the scattering splinters without a need to increase the physical-power characteristics of the brisant blasting explosive of the brisant explosive charge.
