FIELD: agricultural engineering.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus has transportation channel, transportation buckets filled with material, in particular, cereal crops, and continuously movable along transportation channel, and light-sensitive cell arranged transverse to transportation channel. Light beam of light-sensitive cell is oriented in direction substantially parallel to bucket surfaces. Apparatus is further provided with signal processor for determining distances to edge of material mass inside transportation channel, with space between transportation buckets and thickness of buckets being taken into account, and for determining, on the basis of resulting value and transverse section of transportation channel, volume of material conveyed through transportation channel. Additional measurement means are connected to signal processor for determining inclination and/or shape of surface of material conveyed.

EFFECT: increased efficiency and improved measurement precision.
