FIELD: nonferrous metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: alunite ore containing silica in the form of amorphous modifications is subjected to alkaline hydrochemical treatment including crushing to fineness -3 mm and one-step leaching of agitated crushed ore with alkali-aluminate solution for 1-2 h at 60-70°C.
EFFECT: simplified equipment and process flowsheet including recovery of silica, and reduced loss of alkali with refuse slime.
