FIELD: manufacture of alumina. SUBSTANCE: this method prescribes comminuting nepheline cake having moisture of 0.06 to 0.26 to particle size of less than 1 mm, leaching cake in laboratory conditions by repulping it in weak alkali-aluminate solution, filtering pulp, and then repulping, filtering out and washing precipitate using filter and water. Cake and sludge repulping temperature should be maintained within 75 to 90 C in inverse proportions to average cake moisture capacity which varies from 0.26 to 0.06. Disclosed method further prescribes subjecting washed sludge to chemical analysis, calculating content of aluminum oxide and alkali in washed sludge, and repulping cake and sludge under laboratory conditions at temperature inversely proportional to cake average moisture capacity. Yield of aluminum oxide and alkali derived from cake relative to sludge washed off in laboratory conditions corresponds to amount of extracted aluminum oxide and alkali relative to industrially produced sludge minus components contained in unwashed aluminate solution.
