METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PROTECTING OF PLANTS FROM FROST Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: agricultural engineering, in particular, protection of plants from frost in forestry and agriculture, preferably in vineyard.

SUBSTANCE: apparatus is preferably adapted for attachment to tractor and comprises smoke generator with smoke guide. Smoke generator is discharge collector of tractor engine and smoke guide is exhaust pipe with nozzle at its end. Branch pipe with valve is mounted on cover of fine filter for cleaning of diesel fuel. Branch pipe is connected through adapter to discharge collector of tractor engine and to exhaust pipe that is directed toward rear wheel to the level below tractor's cabin. Apparatus is adapted for smoking of plants with waste gases mixed with combustible vapors of tractor diesel fuel. Method involves distributing mixture over the entire area of plantation, including inter-raw spacings; selecting smoking path depending upon wind direction.

EFFECT: reduced labor intensity, simplified construction, increased efficiency owing to reduced time for performing plant protection works for protecting plants from frosts, increased extent of smoking plants in windy weather, and improved sanitary and hygienic working conditions.
