METHOD FOR ISOLATING METHANOL-ALDEHYDE FRACTION IN MANUFACTURING BUTYL ALCOHOLS Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2254321 C1

FIELD: organic chemistry, chemical technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for isolating methanol-aldehyde fraction from hydrogenizate in manufacturing butyl alcohols by oxo-synthesis wherein this hydrogenizate comprises apart from butyl alcohols methanol, water, butyric aldehydes, butyl ethers and esters, hydrocarbons, aldehydes and C8-alcohols, C12-acetals and other high-boiling by-side products by distillation method. Isolation of the end methanol-aldehyde fraction from hydrogenizate is carried out successively in two mass-exchange units: firstly in rectifying column with bubbling plates fraction containing methanol, butyric aldehydes, water, butyl alcohols, esters, hydrocarbons and other impurities are removed from the top with consumption wherein the content of isobutyl alcohol in this fraction is 3-15% of its potential content in hydrogenizate, and a mixture of butyl alcohols, esters, water, high-boiling by-side products is removed from the bottom with the consumption wherein the concentration of water in the vat product is 0.1-2.5 wt-% and temperature drop between the column vat and 38-th plate from the column bottom is maintained in the range 10-40°C followed by separation of the top product in heat mass-exchange unit wherein vertical lattices or corrugated metal sheet are used with the constructive relief - the specific surface, corrugations height, their slope to vertical and other indices provide the pressure drop between bottom and top of column in the range 20-200 mm of mercury column and the temperature drop between bottom of device and 5-th theoretical plate from the top of device 10-30°C, with isolation of the end methanol-aldehyde fraction from the top of column and concentrate of butyl alcohols from the bottom of column and recirculated to the process. Method provides isolation of methanol-aldehyde fraction from hydrogenizates of oxo-synthesis that can be used as the basic component of an antiknock additive for motor fuels or as raw for preparing pure methanol and additional amount of butyl alcohols.

EFFECT: improved method for isolating.
