FIELD: electrical engineering; short-circuit protective gear.
SUBSTANCE: proposed current limiter built around controlled reactor has at least one closed-circuit magnetic core carrying main winding and phase magnetizing winding shorted out by current-quenching resistor and connected to dc current supply through switch controlled by phase current of electric circuit being protected. Main winding is designed for connection to phase lead of electric circuit under protection. Closed-circuit magnetic core is disposed inside magnetizing winding assembled of coils cumulatively connected in series and mounted so that they enclose opposite yokes of core on external end.
EFFECT: enhanced speed of response and short-circuit current limiting efficiency.
