FIELD: high-frequency wave and microwave engineering; controlling signal phase in antenna arrays and data transfer systems.
SUBSTANCE: proposed phase shifter has transmission-line central conductor and transmission-line shielding conductor both separated from one another by controlled insulation layer. Transmission-line central conductor is irregular, that is, it is assembled of regular sections of different-length strip conductors whose length and width are chosen as required; at operating frequencies of device they function as half-wave resonators and their resonance shapes bandwidth of device whose controlled phase shift is higher than that of regular matched transmission line by approximately Q times, where Q is resonance loaded figure of merit. Transmission-line shielding conductor is solid conductor.
EFFECT: enhanced controlled phase shift.
