FIELD: devices and methods of protection of spacecraft against micrometeorites and technogenious particles at protracted orbital flights.
SUBSTANCE: proposed protective coat includes interlayer made from porous material and filled with water ice or water-and-ice mixture. Method of forming the protective coat includes filling the said interlayer with water after injection of spacecraft into orbit and heating water to temperature above freezing point. Device for forming the protective coat includes water source and pump connected with on-board water source and porous interlayer by means of pipe lines. Located in this interlayer are heaters, temperature sensors and water level sensors which are connected to automation control unit of heaters and pump.
EFFECT: improved protective properties of coat; reduced mass and increased useful space of spacecraft due to possibility of storage of water on the spacecraft outside.
