FIELD: treatment of drinking water; catalytic cleaning of natural water from dissolved iron.
SUBSTANCE: proposed catalyst is used for oxidation of bivalent iron dissolved in natural water; catalyst is based on silica gel and is thermo-modified by manganese dioxide MnO2; modification is performed by calcination of freshly formed silica gel impregnated with manganese nitrate at 400°C; content of MnO2 in granulated catalyst ranges from 6.5 to 13 mass-%.
EFFECT: increased activity of catalyst; reduction of emission of manganese from catalyst into water; enhanced efficiency in de-ironing water at high content of bivalent iron.
