ELECTRIC WELDING TORCH POSITION AUTOMATIC CONTROL METHOD Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2261159 C1

FIELD: automating of electric-arc gas-shield welding with use of consumable electrode of dressed and angular seams under flux, namely method and apparatus for controlling position of electric welding torch relative to butt, possibly in different branches of machine engineering.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of imparting to arc oscillation motions across butt; measuring welding electric current; forming error signal and using it for correcting position of torch axis relative to butt mean zone; creating oscillations of electrodes by means of self-oscillating circuit closed by first harmonic of welding current. Apparatus for correcting oscillation frequency is connected as negative feedback circuit to relay unit. Second outlet of low-frequency filter is connected through second amplifier to inlet of multiplier whose outlet is connected through first amplifier with drive unit for moving torch across butt. Second outlet of relay unit is connected through third amplifier with arc oscillating apparatus connected with electric welding torch.

EFFECT: enhanced quality of welded joint.
