FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and device of automatic control over electrical welding torch position relative to butt with electrode oscillating across. Proposed method comprises measuring welding current, generating error signal to be used for correcting torch axis relative to butt center. To generate error signal, welding current harmonic component with arc oscillation frequency is isolated. Phase of said harmonic component is used to define sign while its amplitude is used to determine deviation of torch from the butt. Electrode is made oscillating by self-sustained circuit closed by welding current first harmonic. Error signal is generated by extrapolation be means of neural network pre-trained in situations originating in welding, and delay line.
EFFECT: higher quality of weld joint.
