FIELD: automotive industry; passive safety devices.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to preclude traumatic injuries of driver and passengers at rear-end collision. Proposed automatic headrest has air space in seat cushion and it is provided with direct-action valves mounted in supply hoses of two pneumatic cylinders fitted in seat backrest and in which posts of headrest with pistons on ends move. Pistons extend under action of pressure arising when driver or passenger occupies its seat to make headrest automatically set in position corresponding to height of user and smaller size check valves fitted in direct-action valves to return headrest into initial position at slow rate.
EFFECT: improved safety of driver and passengers.
