FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: method involves showing paired light pulses. The reference one of 80 ms duration and duration-controlled one repeat in time interval equal to 1 s. The duration-controlled pulse is delayed or interrupted earlier relative to reference pulse showing time. Delay time or early interruption time of duration-controlled pulse relative to the reference one is discretely incremented with 5 ms long step until the testee determines subjective sensation time represented by the event that the light pulses start or finish at the same time, at the first stage. Duration-controlled pulse delay time or early interruption time is reduced in discrete way with steps of 1 ms until the testee determines subjective sensation time represented by the event that the light pulses start or finish at the same time, at the second stage. Duration-controlled pulse delay time or early interruption time is increased in discrete way with steps of 0.1 ms until the testee determines subjective sensation time represented by the event that the light pulses do not start or finish at the same time, at the third stage. Visual system response time is taken to be equal to duration-controlled pulse delay time or early interruption time relative to the reference one determined at the third measurement stage.
