DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT CLOSED OSTEOSYNTHESIS IN COMPLEX FEMUR FRACTURE CASES Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2262321 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: device has cylindrical intramedullary pin having blocking holes on end face side and on tip member side for fixing distal and proximal fragments, respectively. Coaxial threaded hole, trocar for coaxially arranging instrument or blocking screws in it and guide member having holes for introducing the trocar mating the blocking holes in the pin and a centering hole for setting the binding bushing, are available in the end face. Binding bushing end face is mated with pin end face via counterpart slots and protrusions manufactured in the pin and bushing. The pin is attached to the guide member by means of screw coupling member passing through the binding bushing and screwed into threaded hole in the pin. The pin has two stages with a stage of greater diameter usable for blocking distal fragments. Stage length is equal to statistical mean axial length of human femur condyle. The blocking holes are spaced along the whole condyle length with the nearest blocking hole axis being arranged with some offset. Three or more holes are produced in the tip member 1/6 of the condyle length remote from pin end face with a stage of lesser diameter being located on the same side with the tip member. Distance separating neighboring blocking holes axes is not less than 1/4 of the greater stage diameter. The guide member is manufactured as bracket having supporting and bent ends bound as one-piece block. Holes for receiving trocar are located in the supporting guide member end and the centering hole for receiving the binding bushing is made in the bent end. Blocking holes axes in the pin and the corresponding holes axes for receiving trocar in the guide member belong to planes arranged in perpendicular to pin axis and are equidistant from base plane passing through pin end face.

EFFECT: high strength; improved axial and enface stability and reliability of osteosynthesis; wide range of functional applications.
