SUBSTANCE: invention relates to treatment of environment. Invention proposes the strain of bacterium Rhodococcus rubber eliciting the high destruction activity with respect to polychlorinated biphenyls. The strain is deposited in the Regional profiled collection of alkanotrophic microorganisms of Institute of ecology and genetics of microorganisms UrO RAN at the collection number IEGM 896. The strain is able to grow effectively in medium with the presence of 2-, 4- and 2,4'-chlorobiphenyls and metabolic products of polychlorobiphenyls representing 2-, 4- and 2,4-chlorobenzoic acids. The strain decomposes 2,2'-, 4,4'-dichlorobiphenyls, 2,4.2'- and 2,4,4'-trichlorobiphenyl during its cultivation. The strain can be grown by the industrial method by using the standard equipment and available raw. Invention can be used as a base for preparing biological preparations used in treatment of soils containing high concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls.
