FIELD: electrical engineering; high-speed electromagnetic operating mechanisms of switching devices.
SUBSTANCE: use of transistor connected in series with electromagnet coil shorted out by opposing diode does not allow for essential reduction in operating mechanism off-time. Newly introduced in operating mechanism to reduce its off-time are second transistor, capacitor, resistor, and load voltage sensor; both transistors function to ensure pulsed operation of electromagnet coil during holding current generation, and both transistors are cut off on operating mechanism tripping with the result that coil current closes through diode and capacitor enabling its fast reduction thereby reducing off-time of operating mechanism. Still faster response of operating mechanism to short circuit is attained by feeding pulsed master oscillator from load voltage sensor.
EFFECT: reduced off-time of operating mechanism.
