THERMALLY STABLE COILED THREAD AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2263167 C2

FIELD: production of thermally stable coiled threads.

SUBSTANCE: thread contains thermally stable high-functional filaments with linear density of single filament of from 0.02 to 1.0 tex. Relative elongation of thread upon stretching is at least 6%, elastic modulus in stretching is at least 40% and specific tearing loading is within the range of from 0.15 to 3.5 N/tex. Method involves twisting thermally stable high-functional filaments; providing thermal fixation thereof by processing with high temperature steam at high pressure or with high temperature water at high pressure; untwisting filaments. Thermally stable high-functional filaments are subjected to twisting until twisting parameter K reaches 5,000 to 11,000. Thermal fixation is provided by processing with steam at high temperature and under high pressure or with water under high pressure at temperature of 130-250°C. According to another method, thermally stable filaments are subjected to thermal fixation process by dry thermal processing at temperature of from 140°C to 390°C. Thermally stable thread is used for manufacture of three-dimensional stretchable fibrous article, wherein amount of thermally stable coiled thread constitutes at least 50% of fibrous part of article. Article produced with the use of such a thread does not lose its properties after heating thereof.

EFFECT: increased thermal stability, fireproofing and strength properties, improved relative elongation, low fluffiness, low extent of dustiness.
