FIELD: electrified railways.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to noncontact checking of condition of contact systems of electrified railways. According to proposed method supply of contact system is checked by means of infra-red scanner installed on roof of car in train consisting of bar of heat sensors arranged across direction of train movement. Then infra-red image of contact system is formed including into service part of each bar, current geographic coordinates of scanner received from GPS receiver with preservation of image in computer memory. New image is formed by computer means containing only thermal images of two contact wires. Using mew image nonhomogeneity of temperature field of each wire is analyzed, and sections are revealed featuring higher temperature of each contact with relative to preset temperature limits. Using known geographic coordinates of scanner, vector cartographic image of contact system is formed with marked off sections. Formed image is aligned with electronic map to get cartographic plan which is analyzed, degree of local wear of contact system is revealed and places of local increased wear of wires of contact system to be replaced are determined according to place of location.
EFFECT: provision of reliable evaluation of possible places of breaks of contact system wires and possibility of carrying out preventive repairs for replacement of defective sections of contact wire.
