FIELD: glass sheet moving and positioning method and equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method involves moving and portioning glass sheet or strip cut from glass sheet during cutting of glass sheets in glass sheet cutting apparatus comprising at least one glass cutting zone and one supporting surface provided at each side of cutting zone for cutting glass sheet, which is adapted for cutting, or for cutting of strip cut from glass sheet and produced after cutting of glass sheet; detecting in the region adjoining contact edge extending perpendicular to cutting zone the presence of glass sheet or strip cut from glass sheet lying on supporting surface; moving detected glass sheet or strip cut therefrom to cutting zone by means of conveyor; performing cutting operation after each movement step, with glass sheet or strip cut from glass sheet being engaged with conveyor means with its edge adjoining contact edge and moving in direction perpendicular to cutting direction in cutting zone.

EFFECT: simplified and high-speed movement and positioning of glass sheets.
