FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: to get after cooling shaped sections of rail steels with fine-pearlite or ferrite/pearlite structure, according to invention part is passed through cooling section consisting of separate independent cooling sections with independently adjustable cooling parameters. Intermediate areas are provided between cooling modules to remove structural stresses with means to determine actual temperature of corresponding part in said intermediate areas, and depending on corresponding value of actual temperature of part in intermediate area, cooling parameter are regulated, in particular, intensity of cooling, according to following cooling module to provide preset temperature of part passed over entire cooling section. Preset temperature of part is higher than critical temperature at which bainite structural components are formed.
EFFECT: improved mechanical properties of rails.
