FIELD: fuel-air mixture ignition systems for internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: device proposed for control of energy consumed for ignition of fuel-air mixture includes ignition coil and central control unit (16); ignition coil has primary winding (4) connected with electronic switch (13) of ignition system. Central control unit (16) may be used for determination of duration of time interval between moment when electric current starts flowing through primary winding (4) and moment when primary current reaches first threshold magnitude, thus making it possible to determine magnitude of power dissipated in electron switch (13) or reduction of active energy on base of duration of said time interval stipulated by turn-to-turn short circuits in primary winding (4). If energy additionally dissipated in electronic switch (13) exceeds threshold magnitude, electronic switch is disconnected. Active energy is controlled with the aid of control unit (163) of central control unit (16) through changing duration of shorted state of ignition circuit, thus minimizing the level of active energy. Specification gives description of method of control of active energy consumed for ignition of fuel-air mixture.
EFFECT: avoidance of overheating of electronic switch and accumulation of energy consumed for ignition of mixture.
