FIELD: automobile industry, shipbuilding industry, power engineering, chemical industry, electro-chemical industry, in particular, technology for performing chlorine-producing electrolysis, possible use for production of fuel elements with membrane-electrode block.

SUBSTANCE: bipolar plate, consisting of peripheral parts with apertures and of central part with current-guiding shelves of arbitrary shape, vertexes of which are positioned in the same plane with peripheral parts, while current-guiding shelves are made with given area of base, with specific diameter in base ranging from 0,5 to 3,0 millimeters, height from 0,3 to 2,0 millimeters and with step between centers of current-conductive shelves ranging from 1,0 to 4,0 millimeters. Method for making additional bipolar plate includes preparing thermo-solidifying resin of given composition in volatile solvent with carbon filler, mixing, drying, annealing and pressing by means of multiple loading up to pressure of 15-20 MPa under resin solidification temperature. Annealing of composition is performed under temperature for 50-60°C lesser, than temperature of thermal solidification of aforementioned composition. During preparation of mixture of carbon powders with solvent, ratio of solid and fluid phases lies within range from 1:3 to 1:5. Composition of source mixture for pressing additionally includes 0,1-3% of pore forming agent.

EFFECT: expanded functional capabilities, better operational properties and characteristics of bipolar plates and fuel element as a whole, production of bipolar plates with current-guiding shelves of arbitrary shape and position with height of shelves ranging from 0,3 to 2,0 millimeters, increased efficiency of reagents transportation and draining of reaction products, increased resistance to corrosion along periphery under technological load, which forms additional single whole with central electro-conductive part, having functional load.
