FIELD: railway transport.
SUBSTANCE: proposed electromagnetic retarder for railway cars is made up of identical links, each containing U-shaped magnetic circuit made of ferromagnetic material with coils of current-carrying material fitted and secured on rods, movable yoke bars arranged in upper part of rods in guides, brake buses fastened from inner sides pointed to each other, and brackets with shock absorbers. Yoke bars are made, each, of two parts and are arranged one over the other. Upper components of yoke bars with fitted on buses are arranged by first flanges of lower components of yoke bars for reciprocation and fixing on lower components of yoke bars, and second flanges with secured brake buses are turned towards each other, respectively. Said brackets with shock absorbers are secured in upper part of rods of magnetic circuit for acting onto lower components of yoke bars.
EFFECT: increased stability of retarder in operation, reduced power consumption at braking and reduced mass of current-carrying material.
